My name is Rosalie, and Iām on my way to becoming a teacher in the next few years. A little over a year ago, I had the chance to teach English in Quebec to students from grades 1 to 6, and thatās when I discovered my passion for education.
With my mom, dad, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt all being teachers, I always thought Iād take a different path; not because they were an example I didn’t want to follow, but simply because I believed Iād carve out my own thing. Then, I accepted a three-month teaching contract, and suddenly that old saying about having something āin your bloodā made sense.
I fell in love with the job, the students, the community, and the creativity that teaching allowed. I would spend nights and weekends preparing lesson plans my students would enjoy; plans that made learning meaningful, active, hands-on and fun. Some of my strongest connections with students came when they walked in the classroom on week 2 and realized activities were adapted to their needs, that so much of what I did was designed with them in mind.
It showed them that I cared. Cared enough to take the time and energy to create something that made them happy while learning. Thatās why Iāve chosen to start building a catalogue of activities that I (and my students) will be excited about, and that I hope will inspire others too.
